Authors note: This piece was a releasing piece for me and it was surprisingly easy to write. I plan on getting more in depth with 3D printing but also the engineering specks of it too.

Technology is everywhere now, and there is one technology though that is changing the world. Its 3D printing. There are companies all over the world that have been developing technology to get to this point, and now people have the ability to make one at home.
A 3D printer is a device that extrudes plastic
from an x, y, and z axis, to build up enough plastic to create a model. Most 3D
printers use a plastic called filament. This is made out of ABS or PLA. What I
am going to do is create a 3D printer out of old disk drives. Then use the
stepper motors inside the drawer to control the xyz axies. The disk drive
shells are used as the casing for the printer, and the drawer bars are what the
print head is held on.
Ok, the main things that you need are in the
disk drives. The are the stepper motors and they control where the axies go to
control the print head and the print bed, the next are the disk drive drawers as
I explained before they are what the print head slides on to go around the
print bed. The power box is the most dangerous part about this whole build, and
the reason for this is that the power boxed were made for old PC towers. They
are not made to power a tiny 3D printer so that I am not going to explain right
now.
Pretty much, how this is built is two disk drive
casings are stacked on top of each other to make a shell. Then the stepper
motors are used to move the xyz axies. There are videos on how to build these
and that is where the biggest explanations are used. Then the wiring it done
with two motor drivers because arduino doesn’t work the best with the stepper
motors, ant the extruder is attached to
one of the laser mounts.
I noticed that this was a hard build to complete
and I probably would not recommend building this. Out of what I have seen, this
is a really cool project to do with great rewards. This is why I think that 3D
printing is so cool and that now even in your house you can create a working 3D
printer that actually works, that can really print objects out of solid
plastic.
I really like how you are writing about what you really want to think about. Since you began doing this your writing has really improved. I would like you to stop referencing your own writing. For example, "as I explained before." This is weak. When you find yourself doing this as a writer, just remove that phrasing and what is left behind is good. 3
